Day-by-Day Plan to Complete NEBOSH IG2 in 7 Days
Day 1: Understand the IG2 Assessment Format
Before doing anything else, read through the NEBOSH IG2 guidance. Understand:
- The required structure (Hazards, Controls, Justifications)
- Number of hazards (Minimum 10 across different categories)
- Follow-up and review section (Part 4)
Use my eBook’s Chapter 1 and risk assessment overview to get a crystal-clear understanding.
Day 2: Choose a Suitable Workplace
Pick a real or simulated workplace you are familiar with. This could be:
- A construction site
- A factory
- An office building
- A warehouse
Document basic details like:
- Name of site
- Type of activities
- Number of workers
- Job roles
My book includes three sample workplaces to inspire you – Construction, Oil & Gas, and Manufacturing.
Day 3: Identify Hazards (Part 1)
Go through your selected site and identify at least 10 hazards from a variety of categories:
- Mechanical
- Physical
- Chemical
- Biological
- Ergonomic
- Psychosocial
Use observation, previous reports, and discussion with colleagues.
Refer to my eBook’s risk assessment tables to understand how hazards are documented professionally.
Day 4: Suggest Control Measures (Part 2)
For each hazard:
- List existing controls (if any)
- Recommend additional control measures
- Include timeframes and responsible persons
Use my eBook for real-world examples and terminology used in successful IG2 submissions.
Day 5: Write Justifications (Part 3)
Every recommendation must be justified:
- What legal or industry standard supports it?
- How does it reduce the risk?
- Is it morally and financially justifiable?
I provide full justifications in my book with references to Indian laws and international standards like ISO 45001.
Day 6: Prepare Review and Follow-Up (Part 4)
Explain how you will:
- Monitor the effectiveness of controls
- Communicate actions to team members
- Review and update the risk assessment
My samples include fully filled Part 4 sections ready to guide your final steps.
Day 7: Final Review and Formatting
On the last day:
- Review all spelling, grammar, and formatting
- Ensure each hazard has a matching control and justification
- Match your format with the official NEBOSH template
- Save the file in the correct format (usually Word or PDF)
