Site Inspection

Site Inspection : Work and accident are two sides of the same coin. Where there is work, accidents happen or there is a possibility of it. The owner of any organization wants his industry to be safe and he does not have to bear the loss due to accident.

But accidents happen at the workplace and the employer also has to suffer, less in some organization and more in some organization.

The possibility of danger and damage is more in the place where the safety rules are not followed, but in some places the safety related rules are also followed, still accidents happen.

Well, there are three main causes of accidents at work place. And in doing accident investigation of accidents on the working site, this is ascertained which is as follows.

Unsafe Activities

Unsafe Condition

Natural Disaster

But there are some places where if a little diligence is shown, then there is no accidental damage, and that is inspecting the site. That is, to inspect the place before starting any work.

Potential hazards can be assessed only when the work site is inspected and inspected. Accidents cannot be prevented unless the potential hazards available at the workplace can be removed.

Let us understand the importance of inspection the site through the main three points.

1. Performed a Walk-through at Site

Whenever the work is about to start, it is necessary to identify and assess the potential threats and to do this inspection the site is very important. When inspecting the working site, it is very important to keep a record of it.

Record any potential hazards during site inspection, discuss them during toolbox talk and take action to rectify what is considered unsafe by personnel before starting work.

For example, at the place where the work is being done, what can be done to avoid falling in the excavation and what kind of signs can be saved from falling in the pit there.

2. Identify and Mark the Hazardous Materials

If working in a place where employees are likely to come into contact with a substance that could put their lives at risk. Therefore, whatever substance is dangerous, it needs to be kept in a proper container and it has to be stored in a safe place only after labeling it.

To avoid all those hazardous materials, the workers who are there have to be given proper training and those who are visitors have to be made aware by putting up signs related to the danger. This sign not only alerts the visitors but also keeps the people working at that place aware of the dangers.

Material safety data sheets for hazardous substances should be available at the work site to deal with any potential hazards and Which can be used at the time of emergency.

The best way to avoid this is to store any dangerous substances that can be life threatening.

You have to ensure that wherever the hazardous substance is kept, the workers are given information about the instructions written in the MSDS sheet or not. And whether they have been given training to use it or not. Only after inspection the site can it be confirmed whether the people working near the dangerous substance are aware of the dangers present there or not.

3. Inspect All Equipment & make Sure It is Safe and Working Properly

Look for the codes used for service indicators, lights and noise and Jerk Movements during Inspect the Site. These are problems that do not become a cause of danger immediately, but if this problem persists for a long time, then it can become a cause of great danger.

If any of the above mentioned problems are seen during the inspection of the workplace, then without delay, it has to be reported to the maintenance department. As far as the operation of the machine is concerned, do not operate or allow the machine to be completely repaired.

If any kind of defect has come out in any equipment, then it should be reported to your supervisor immediately and the operation of the work should be stopped till his arrival.

During inspection the site, look for any damaged wires or other electrical hazards and inspect all equipment that is to be used.

During pre-work inspection, pay attention to any faulty wires or incorrectly grounded electrical equipment that needs to be removed prior to work.

4. Check All Personal Protective Equipment

Collect as many self-protection equipment as you have at the workplace, which are to be used during work. And to make sure that the PPE does not have any kind of damages, and is working properly or not.

Any protective equipment that is damaged has to be disassembled and replaced with the right equipment. All the defective equipment is not to be kept at the workplace, otherwise it can be used due to mistake and omission.

For example, if there is a helmet at the workplace that is broken or is not fitting properly in the head, then it should be removed. If any goggle is broken, then refuse to wear them. And before work, check that the condition of the gloves is correct and whether it is coming fully fit in the hand or not.

That is to say, inspect the items in use and see whether they are usable or not.
