Difference between Accident and Incident in the workplace

Accident:- An Accident is defined as an unplanned or undesired event that can result in personal injury or property damage or even death.

Example:- A car crash

Incident:- An Incident is defined as an unplanned or undesired event that does not result in personal injury but may result in property damage.

Example:- 1) A bank robbery, 2) Argument between celebrities

Both Accidents & Incidents are unplanned, unforeseen & unexpected events.

The difference is that accidents result in losses while incidents don’t result in serious damage or harm.

Near miss, cases are included in incidents, which are events that could have resulted in a serious accident but in which the adverse consequences have been avoided.

All Accident = Incidents

Not All Incidents = Accidents
